The last epic adventure of the Wii

It is an envious eye squint that Europeans for several months on the release of Xenoblade Chronicles on Wii. Available at the rising sun, he was uncertain of having an import and even less sure of benefit of a translation. But it's finally a relief to welcome the last work of the developers of Xenogears and Xenosaga (two monuments of Japanese role-playing game) for Wii and French please.

The Japanese role-playing game is looking for several years now. The outputs of next generation consoles have failed to convince. Lack of charisma, lack of depth in the universe and offered to summarize a lack of originality that has even led to westernized Japanese developers (Capcom went to support investment in EIDOS Deus Ex for example).

An epic adventure   Xenoblade Chronicles comes as the Wii is the end of life. The Wii will soon sweep U its big sister. But the universe is appealing. Xenoblade the world is the result of a battle between two titans. At the same place or are frozen and the swords of Bion Mekons are a world in which the balance can switch at any time. Particularly with the attacks against the Mekons Homz. Here Excalibur is called Monado and holder is called Shulke elected.  Gaming sessions can be counted in hours. Useless to try to do a small part as a dilettante. Xenoblade requires some investment from the player. An easy investment to the extent that environments literally snatch the player. With an unprecedented depth of field even on the Wii, the sets are epic, the atmosphere very exotic. If the line can still seem childish to the observer, the words are surprisingly mature and eventful history. It is far from the sentimentality of some of the dialogue proposed in productions of the same style. In this regard, the choice is left to the player to benefit from a doubling English or Japanese (much better) to accompany the French subtitles.

Only on Wii ...
One can only regret that the game does not have the space necessary to achieve its ambitions. If the Wii is very well exploited and pushed to its limits (especially with loading times surprisingly short or even absent), it is clear that the game suffers from not exist in high definition. It is difficult now to tolerate the amputation graphic imposed by the Wii.  The game system can still partially erase these limitations. It relies heavily on teamwork and communication between the protagonists. Gauge training is at the heart of this system. When contextual actions are performed at the right time or that special attacks are successful, this gauge fills up and will achieve a combined attack with all the arts fighters. The arts are special techniques which, chained with discernment, will maximize the damage to enemies. Thus, each character has a more or less determined by its arts. These functions are conventional, the "tank" that needs to attract and collect all the attacks (to avoid other more vulnerable to die) to the trainer who claims to remain in well protected.

The last stand of the Wii   Social relationships between the characters are very important and change according to the dialogues alone together they may have. So, learn more about each character set or single player can have a real influence on the effectiveness of battles. So much so that there is a complete sociogram for understanding and synthesizing the various relationships formed.

This little world is changing the conventional way with new equipment (which affect their aesthetic), new arts to improve and bonuses to choose wisely based on the roles of the characters. To do this, you will have access to the experience generated by the main quest, but also to the many side quests and missions collection growing deeper and deeper to explore the landscapes of Xenoblade.  Xenoblade seems to be the game that will symbolize the last stand of the Wii. It will not save a dying console, but it will still regret to those who have sold their actions. For this game into the closed circle of "system sellers". Ie the games alone justify buying a console. Especially it is now proposed a very affordable price.
